Dear Candidate Students,
Welcome to the Department of Electrical-Electronics Engineering at Marmara University Faculty of Technology.
Our department conducts its educational activities and academic work with the aim of training you as "Next-Generation Engineers," leveraging its well-established and robust infrastructure, expert academic staff, and unique educational model.
Driven by the rapid transformation of technology, the field of electrical-electronics engineering is being reshaped—spanning areas from energy and automation to telecommunications and artificial intelligence. It has become one of the fundamental professions of today and the future, encompassing fields such as autonomous systems, embedded systems, industrial robotics, unmanned aerial vehicles, renewable energy sources, and smart grids. This discipline, which designs the technologies of the future and shapes every aspect of our lives, stands as one of the most dynamic and strategic fields today.
In line with our Faculty's core philosophy, our department offers a curriculum featuring a rich array of elective courses across various branches of electrical-electronics engineering, delivered by an experienced and dynamic faculty. We go beyond being an institution that merely imparts theoretical knowledge; we implement the "7+1" system—an approach that bridges theory and practice, generates projects with real-world applications, and fosters essential engineering competencies. Consequently, a significant number of our students engage with industrial organizations during mandatory workplace training and internship programs, subsequently building successful careers in sectors such as the defense industry, energy, automation, telecommunications, information technology, and high-tech industries. Furthermore, through the courses in our current curriculum, our students qualify for the "Electrical SMM Certificate (for systems below and above 1 kV)"—required for professional services such as projects, contracts, and consultancy—and earn the title of Electrical-Electronics Engineer.
Our academic staff consists of a total of 41 faculty members: 11 professors, 4 associate professors, 8 assistant professors, and 18 research assistants.
Over the past four years, our department has consistently improved its ranking in higher education entrance exams. We rank among the top three programs nationwide for Electrical-Electronics Engineering conducted in Turkish (including programs with 30% English-medium instruction) and continue to hold the top spot among Electrical-Electronics Engineering programs within Faculties of Technology.
We invite you, our valued prospective students, to join our department, which is dedicated to the vision of training "Next-Generation Engineers." We would be delighted to welcome you on this exciting journey toward success.
Sincerely,
Prof. Dr. Bülent ORAL
